carrots seeds 300mm

is it true by planting carrot seeds 300mm above the ground will stop carrot fly, and what soil would be best to grow them in.

 

Hi gandygardener. Apparently carrot fly cannot fly above 30 - 45cms above the ground so by sowing them in a pot and elevating it they should be safe.

Use 3 parts multi-purpose compost with 1 part sharp sand (roughly)
