I am trying to plant by the moon cycle and so far it has been a success. In July first week I put carrot seeds when the moon was wanning within a few days they had all germinated. Last weekend we had our first carrots from that sowing. i will try and put pic for you just waiting for the rain to stop.

My second lot of beetroots have also done well in fact they look better than the ones i put in May.

Sounds good Fancy, glad the allotment is still going strong:):thumb:

My sweetcorn are making an appearance but are only being grown for the foliage. I was definitely wanning when I planted them ;)

Fancy I just howled at your pictures it must be a really 'fun' allotment site wish ours was as fun and crazy as yours I'm really quite jealous now of you it's just not fair.:tnp:

Judging by the pictures you all chipped in and had a smashing day and it seems the weather was lovely too as well your lucky devils.

I have to say yesterday in between the rain storms (I know not the greatest idea) Bob and I walked over to the allotments and pulled our first carrots and by 'eck they were lovely I feltjust like Buggs Bunny eating them straight from the ground oh course we washed them before hand I might be greedy but I'm not an animal!:euw: Hel.xxx.

    Humpty is the best...
Looks like you had a great day.
Our local church organise a scare crow festival most years. This year there was three routes, we navigated all three over the three day bank holiday period.
Must have covered miles to find 90 odd scarries using clues.
It was great fun and a very social affair with meeting loads of people.
I shall going for it again next time.

Humpty won first prize for the kids scarecrow. Our allotment took in £900 for the sale of produce, cakes and lots of other things. It all goes to our allotment fund. We are now planning for next years' open day bigger and better I hope.:)
