My first planting or carrots came up and then were no longer there. I planted a second crop and covered the beds with some screens. Is it robins that eat up the baby carrots? Or is there an insect in the soil that goes after them?
    Cheers

If your carrots had been cleared by birds (and sparrows have been particularly troublesome this year), they tend to leave bits and pieces lying on the ground.

My guess would be slugs have done the damage.

The carrot fly would have a go at your crop but not to the point of clearing the plot! they are much nicer and leave to some mush where your carrots were lol
