Is there anything I should be aware of, when refilling the printer cartridges with a syringe? How much ink should I squeeze in...? Is is best to put less ink more often? Any other useful advice? Thanks.

You can't refill new HP cartridges they lock when they have done there time.

don't over fill them as the ink will run out of the cartridge , the small cart will take about 5mm of ink and the bigger ones about 8mm of ink

If you over fill and ink comes out the top hole just use the syringe and suck some back out
make sure the right colour goes into the right hole on the colour cartridge and wash the syringe between colours and when you finnish
After filling let the cartridge stand for 10 minutes before puting back into printer

It can be messey so lots of newspaper on tables etc

I tried that syringe bit years ago without much success. Now I have an Epson with refillable ink tanks. Never again with those expensive cartridges.

Thank you for the informative posts.
So far so good (next time I will wear gloves and cover the floor ).
When I filled the red hole it overspilled and some of the red ink went on the yellow hole and in it a bit. Panicking because of that, I knocked down the red ink bottle and that is how I lost 2/3 of the precious ink...

I have just bought myself a printer Canon TS5050 . Lovely piece of kit very very compact , so it will fit on the shelving unit . This is the first printer I have had for 15 year , I always used the rpinters at work if I needed anything. The first printer I bought was a HP around 1990 it cost £250 then . This Canon I have with a £20 cashback offer is £45 !
On the posts subject of cartridges . I would have mine refilled at an Inkjet shop , but I preferred to buy a set of generic copies. Hopefully when I need them I can find some good quality ones. Just for refrnce - Inkjet ink cost £2560 per gallon :wow:
