Hi all, I was wondering if anybody out there could recommend an insecticide that will get rid of these little pests, they were eating away at the stair carpet until Mrs Pip spotted one and we promptly ripped the carpet up, a nice gift for the previous occupiers to leave us.

The issue is the fact that they can live under the skirting board and we need to spray under there. We have seen plenty of sprays that deal with airborne moths but nothing that deals with the larvae.

I was under the impression that moths only attack wool and maybe cotton, ie. not manmade fibres.
I dont think I've ever seen damage caused by the clothes moth, I'm too young. [IMG]

Well I must say, I thought they were a thing of the past.
As you have now got rid of the carpet, surely you could lay a new manmade fibre carpet in its place and not have much trouble.

I see in the link that mothballs are now consisered dangerous, never did like the smell, but surely thats the point. Perhaps we will see more of this pest from now on then.
Lets face it, if it kills the moths it has to be just a little toxic, surely.

Quite right pete, we don`t expect anymore problems in that area of the house, it is two of the bedrooms that could be affected as they both have wool carpets although they seem to be unaffected as yet [IMG]

My wife reminded me of the time we moved in and how she commented on the large amount of little moths, live and dead, that were in the house.

The only way we think that they could have got into the house is on the backs of the previous owners cats.
