I thought the heading might catch your eye.

It's perfectly true but not directly relevant. :cat-kittyandsmiley: :)

Aiden Wiltshire, 72, of Brownings Avenue, Chelmsford, was given permission to bring his pet into court to help him stay calm.

The black cat watched the proceedings from a wheeled shopping trolley, only poking his head out of the top to be stroked by Wiltshire.

At a previous hearing the moggy had been allowed out of the bag and was draped round Wiltshire's neck.

Wiltshire is accused of two offences of stalking, against two women, and did not enter a plea during the hearing.

Judge Charles Gratwicke, the senior judge at Chelmsford Crown Court, had given permission for Taylor to be present after being told by Wiltshire's lawyer, Gavin Burrell that the defendant was "someone who suffers with health issues and is emotionally supported by his cat".

He added: "It's a crutch which he relies on. It's in a basket and not roaming free. I appreciate it sounds somewhat odd but there's documentary evidence that the cat does provide emotional support for the defendant to cope."

The case was adjourned until the New Year.

So what happens if he gets sent down? Is the cat going with him then? I don't know why a Doctor couldn't have given him a sedative to calm him down instead. Maybe the Judge should let the cat out of the bag and tell us why he's allowed it....boom boom.

I don't think that the category of crime he's accused of would warrant being sent down but, if it did and they were able to implicate him, then it could be a catastrophe and there might be a lot of caterwauling. Then there could be a cataract of tears and it would be very hard to placate him.
I'm not sure how he would communicate it to the puss and I hope he doesn't become cataleptic because of it. Of course, as always happens with sentencing, the prison term will be truncated.

Only having inserted the word nine times seems a bit wrong so making a tenth one would be more cathartic.
