catch a thief

I just thought you would like to read a funny story although it wasn't funny at the time.
I was in our kitchen putting the dirty pots in the dishwasher when i just happened to look out of the window at the back garden and couldn't believe my eyes.

There was a young girl about 18 or 19 years old with our plastic heron tucked under her arm. She would have had to climb over our stream to get the heron that was on the other side of the pond. I banged on the window to let her know i had seen her and she ran off. So i ran out of the front door with my slippers on and gave chase. I was furous. She ran down the road onto the main road. After a while of running i lost sight of her. So when i got down the bottom of the road i knocked on one of the houses near to where i had seen her, but they hadn' seen her, so i ran back home forgetting i had left the front door wide open, fortunatly everything was ok.

Funny enough, when ruuning after her i had ran straight passed my car not thinking about chasing her in that. So i got my keys and went back out and drove round to see if i could see her, and blow me when i drove down to the bottom of the road to the main road i saw her walking down just where i had lost sight of her, so i guess she must have been hiding in somebodys garden, and she must have come out thinking she had given me the slip. So i drove just behind her and got out the car, ( she did'nt know i was there) and i walked in front of her and took my heron from under her arm and said. "I think you will find that this is mine. How dare you come into my garden and take my heron" and she said
"Oh I wanted it for my dad because he can't afford one and he's always wanted one".
Well i was that gob smacked i just got in my car and drove off.

Now my husband has put a fence up at the end of the garden where one time we could walk up the path from the entrance from the road.

 

it makes you mad,and sad at the same time,what a world this is :(

Oh wg, how horrible. Why do people like her think they have the right to just take things? You were quite brave to confront her though, what if she'd got nasty? But i have to say, well done. I would love to do the same. hopefully this will have put her off.

her parents can't be much good, cos what was her dad going to say if she turned up with it!

Shame about having to put a fence up. I don't know what the answer is.

Oh dear lord Weekend Gardener how do people live with theirselves being so cheeky you are a far better woman than me I would have been so peed off to say the least I just don't know what I would have done!

Its such a sad state of affairs when some people are so jealousy of what others have got and can't be bothered to work for something nice and think it's okay to steal from someone else.....bang the b*ggers up that's what I say! Hel.xxx.

Hi fellow gardeners, just thought i would let you know how great i think you all are, i loved your replies regarding catch a thief, and some of them made me laugh you are funny.

Someone else said to me the girl could have turned nasty, but i was so angry. Fortunatly i had been doing some exercises that morning so was pretty fit for a senior. i never consider myself as old anyway. It's all in the mind. :D
