    Does anyone here grow catnip?

I have 3 that I planted last year and have to say they are certainly my most entertaining plants. If you hate cats then not a good idea as your garden will be inundated by them. My neighbors hate them so think im crazy. I think I've counted about 8 different cats that now frequent my garden sometimes twice a day for their fix often displaying some comical behaviour afterwards.

The funny thing is that they seem to treat my garden as a bit of a neutral zone. They sometimes queue to take their turn, no fighting. They don't really show any interest in the birds and they don't poo in my garden anymore but poo in the neighbors regularly. They just come in roll about in it maybe chew some and scuttle off.

Anyway with the weather being a little better they're back with a vengeance. My plants are looking a bit battered though. Need to add more bamboo sticks to restrain them.

    Mike

      Hiya Mike
      Yes I grow catnip/nepeta.
It is such a tough plant that it can cope with any cat antics so continue to enjoy the show :)
Oh! You can propagate catnip very easily now....just pull some roots out and pot up :)

I have a clump if it, our cat (sadly gone now) used to lay in it. We don't get other cats around, fortunately, as we have lots of birds but I will keep it as the flowers are loved by Bees.

Ah I just love watching the cats get off their trolleys on the stuff.

Bought a fairly decent sized plant last year and like Redstars, it was flattened in no time, it's still hanging on though :)

I grow it every year. I don't have a cat but I supply pussy owners with it.

I started to do it when cats were allowed to roam but now I'm reduced to handing it out in baggies.

              Lori, the pussy pot pusher....
