Hi guys, 3 times this year Ive attempted to start some cauliflowers growing.

I start them off in doors until they are reasonably sturdy looking, then plant them out, each time they have all looked good and healthy.

Only within a week they have all died.
they dont seem to have been eaten by anything, they just wither and die.

I water them daily and they are in the same type of multi compost as they were seeded in.

can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong please as I am kerflumaxed! A friend suggested Im overwatering them??

    Are you hardening them off?

Hardening off is the process of gradually acclimatizing plants to outdoor conditions, taking them outdoors each day and bring them indoors overnight for around 10 days, don't plant if frosts are predicted - otherwise the plants go into shock.

ah I see thanks JWK. no Ive not been doing that as it never mentioned that on the packet, just said let them get to 2-3 inches then plant them out. I know enough to avoid frosts but thats about it. thanks for your help :)

As JWK said young plants need to be hardened off, but I would cut back on the watering as well. Water them when you plant them and then wait for the compost to feel dry. Only in very hot weather would they need watering every day and then only until they start to grow.
Are you growing them in containers? Cauliflowers need a lot of feeding to get good heads on them.

They will need drainage holes otherwise the compost will get too wet and soggy.
