Not sure if it's easy to tell but does anyone know what type of Ceanothus this is ?

It's in the wrong place so looking to buy another one or two for another location. Would it be better to buy a small 2 litre bushy one, or a 10 litre not yet bushy one ? (If that makes sense) :)

it reminds me off Autumnal blue , but lots of varieties.

I would go with buy small as in just 1, much easier to train they do tend to get top heavy and have a habit of falling over when caught in high winds , you need very sharp secateurs when pruning , and clean the blade aftera few cuts

Your Ceonothus looks like 'Thyrsiflorus' but I can't be certain Sam.

Thanks both :) I wonder if I cut some off and take it to the garden centre to try and match it.

It's worth a try if it's blooming and those in the garden Centre of course, but to try and match it with leaves alone will probably be nigh on impossible. :)

Oh, no it's not blooming, so near on impossible then ! :snork:

Do you happen to know which variety grows the fastest in a nice upright position that doesn't need supporting ?

I brought a different Ceanothus for my front garden and (a) it's hardly grown in 2 years and (b) it just lies flat on the floor ..... That's why I was trying to match a new one up with the good one I have already so I get pretty much the same.

I'd say it was. My autumnal blue is currently in flower, which is rather confusing.
