Is celery easy enough to grow? We go through quite a bit of it one way and another, and I was wondering if it might be worth a shot next year?

In my experience FC yes....i haven't grown it this year but last year it did OK ...i tried the non blanching variety...where you don't have to 'wrap' the stems....that all looked a bit too complicated for me....:rolleyespink:.....the plants only turned out smallish but got a few good stems from them....more experienced GC ers will probably help you more:blue thumb:

I find it easy enough to germinate and get going but it never comes to much in the end. I've got about 10 plants on the lottie right now, but they are only about 8" high and I suspect they are quite stringy, certainly not the fat crisp bundles you get in the supermarket. They've probably got plenty of flavour, might be OK for soup. I grow a variety called Red Giant, or something, more like Red Dwarf in my case.

Ah, so they are one of 'those' crops that are maybe best left to the professional growers?
