    What would you do?
What a day I have had.
    Situation:
I have been asked by a very dear neigbor to re decorate her bathroom.
Just the wallpaper. OK I says lets go for it.
She has a sister who is very, very critical of every thing and everyone.
And she is coming to stay next week. So everything must be spot on.
I have agreed and now have a deadline of Sunday night to complete.
It all started with a leaky loo.
Plumber on site for a couple days to install new loo and a fancy inclosed wc.
This new wc is white and now does not match the pine wall cabinet above.
Off to the shops we go for a white mirrored cabinet and a crome mirror to fit above the sink.
Duly fitted, but then there are four rather large red wall plugs showing where the old cabinet was mounted.
This prompts much conversation which results in the decision that I should take everything off the walls and re paper.
    Yes, you guessed it. off to the B&Q again for wallpaper, paste etc;
All stripped and then with three full drops nicely pasted up it was decided that this paper does not match the surrounding tiles!
OK. quick dinner and off yet again to B&Q and back with new wallpaper.
I have now worked like a trojen all day to get the papering finished.
ready to return tomorrow to reinstalled the cabinet and the new chrome towel rail which was also pine.....
All this a hundreds of pounds later. all because the loo leaked and the sister is visiting.
I now have just tomorrow to finish the job.
Thanks for listening guys and gals.
I feel better already but my bones ache.
    Robert

Robert, you sound like an angel and she .... the neighbour from hell.

When I lived in Bucks, I had a similar neighbour .... divorced and older than me who expected me to drive her everywhere and cart things around for her in her time ... often a difficult situation as I drove an MG Sprite. I worked full time and she didn't work. She even complained when I didn't invite her to the monthly country music events I went to. Push came to shove and I told her to f*ck off .... which led to a campaign of terror on our house and property and £2,000 worth of legal fees to get an injunction against her .... to no avail ... we moved to the Isle of Wight for peace. That commenced in the late 80s and continued for better than ten years ......

I can't advise you .... but you have my heartfelt sympathies. Best of luck for tomorrow.

Imo, Your freindship is being abused and she is thus getting a costly job done on the cheap. If she was paying a firm to do it she would certainly have thought harder about the colur of the wall paper and the cabinet position.

I have been in similar situations before and had my fingers burnt, for this reason aside from my parents I will not do favours / work of any kind for freinds, family or neibours even if they want to pay for it.

    Lol
    Appreciate your reply.
Appears I may have overstated my story, not expecting that you have a similair story with an unhappy ending. Must have been for you to move away from the area to resolve your situation.
But she is actually a very dear lady who just wants things done in a hurry,
and will not be outdone by her sister.
I would never fall out with her as she pays her way very nicely thankyou.
Both monetary and another large chocolate cake are on their way to me...
The most frustrating part of the day was taken off the wall paper that I had done a really good of hanging!
She is not in the best of health at 78 and her husband is suffering from a rare form of motorneuron and needs help with everything. and I mean everything.
Its a real shame to see him slowly going downhill.

The worst example was when my father and I were 'volunteerd' to drive 100 or so miles to reading to help clear the garden for a dysfunctional aunt.

Everything possible went wrong including me falling on the thick algae on the patio, the skip not ariving, wrecking a hedge trimmer blade on a angle iron stake in the centre of an overgrown shrub. Getting coverd in dog crap hidden in the long grass and to cap it all a tyre blow out driving back.

We were never thanked, all she said was Youve not done as mutch as I hoped!!!

If all it takes is chocolate cake-which is is to be, double choc, chocolate chocolate chips? Chocolate orange and Grand Marnier cake. I can do them all. Just need a greenhouse assembling.

PS I will speak to the border patrol and arrange safe passage across the pennines.
