After I'd stopped for a quick cuppa this afternoon, the sight which greeted me as I went back outside to resume my gardening activities made me ponder on what I suppose you could call my 'style of gardening'.

    DSC07715.JPG

I'm one of those gardeners who tends to leave tools, pots, assorted items of clothing and sundry other items scattered about all over the place while concentrating on the job in hand, leaving the impression that someone has lobbed a hand grenade into the garden while the work was in progress.

I then finish off with one huge tidy up operation at the end of the day, when everything finally gets returned to its rightful place in the shed/house/greenhouse etc.

I am sure there are many of you who meticulously tidy up as you go along, carefully sweeping up and putting things away, cleaning each tool and pot as it is used and generally being insufferably efficient.

Which made me think on this a bit further. Is there any correlation between the way we carry out our gardening activities (our 'style of gardening' if you like) and the end result in terms of the garden itself. Do chaotic gardeners such as myself tend to go far a more informal type of garden, while more organised types favour a well manicured patch with not a weed or wildflower to be seen and not a leaf out of place?

I'm a messy gardener too, leave it till the end of the day to put everything away. If you put away a tool it's sods law you'll need it again in 5 minutes :)

Well, your garden looks a bit like mine in that there isn't any bare soil in the borders, Trunky!! Your lawn looks trimmer than mine as I always let mine grow a bit longer but I would say your garden is of the relaxed, but in control, Cottage garden style:thumbsup::snork:.............but no comment about your "method" of leaving gardening tools around:heehee:

I really love your garden - even with the chaos! - so clearly your method is working

I'm a leave it all hanging out and about while I'm at it kind of gal myself. And, typically, when I'm stuck into one task, yet another task will be called to my attention and that will lead on to another ... ad infinitum :rolleyespink:

Thanks for all your kind comments folks, seems most of us lean towards the chaotic style doesn't it?
