What sort of size containers Keith ?- Almost anything can be used from Baked Bean tins (Alys Fowler) to dead 'fridges and freezers (Bob Flowerdew).

You might consider getting a copy of Alan Caplin's COOL CONTAINERS which should give you some ideas. Usually available inexpensively on Ebay or Amazon.

    a-a

Just checked Ebay, there are currently at least 6 copies available for less than £3.00

Containers for you to like?I suggest wood +DIY !

I myself was looking for cheap containers, but found nothing I felt was suitable for my garden. Eventually
I decided to create my own containers based on designs I saw on my travels in Austria.

The most cost effective wood I used was gravel board which is not only cheap but weatherproofed.

I hope this helps with regards to your available options.

        Try these?

What about a pair of old boots sitting on the doorstep with panies in them?

They're a talking point and look different,

When i had the alotment one of our members had a old toilet filled with taggets every year sitting outside his shed.:heehee:

Just have a look around at what you dont use and as long as its got drainage and is large enough for your plant! your halfway there.

When driving around I always have my 3rd eye on skips you would be amazed at what people throw out even on council estates.

Big green plant pots from the "Big four" shops, they throw them into the skip. Bit of left over paint - job jobbed. :rolleyespink: Cheers, Tony.

They've got large (55cm diameter) planters in Morrisons at the moment for a fiver each - in either black or terracotta.

They had six terracotta ones left - I might have bought them all [IMG]

I've used old plastic watering cans that have sprung a leak... :)

Old tyre - lined the bottom with fabric membrane,so i could shift it around without losing the soil through the bottom.
