Cheap Strobe Photography - first try

    Strobe photography has intrigued me for a long time. The concept of freezing points in time of a continuous action sounded interesting. Problem with it is that to do it 'properly' requires very expensive strobe lighting. I decided I had a go at a cheap mechanical solution that's largely based on early cinematography.
    My first excursion into the field was tonight.
    Photo below is taken using "Daves Mk1 Cheapo Mechanical Strobe Device". operating at about 16 frames per second. Exposure was 1/2sec, f5, ISO 400
    I've still to sort out optimum lighting (just used a single 40W desk lamp) and I also want to up the frame rate so need to to make another disc or two for the 'strobe shutter'.

    Not a great photo (me dropping a ping-pong ball and it bouncing), but it proves the technology works.
