Over the course of this weekend, I have decided that I shall carry out a chemical engineering experiment, and I would welcome any and all of you who wish to participate to join in.

The good news is that joining in is relatively easy - you can do it from the comfort of your own home or garden, the slight downside is that you do need some raw materials, however they are easily obtainable from any supermarket, and many other smaller shops - more on this later.

The experiment is a three-phase experiment for me, commencing this evening, with phase two tomorrow evening, and phase three on Sunday evening.

For those of you wishing to join in, please don't panic - you are quite at liberty to take part in any one or all of the phases as you see fit. Better still, we don't have to post our results here until we want to - even if that is later in the week.

    Aims & Objectives:

    - To modify the chemical make up of a fluid, irreversibly, using only biological means, and using the absolute minimum of energy.

    - To prove that the process of altering or engineering one chemical into another can be repeated at will.

    - To research the possibilities of adverse effects, and any subsequent resolutions.

    You will need:

    - An ethanol suspension of your choosing (dilutions etc very dramatically, however the choice is entirely yours)

    - You may also need a sucrose or glucose emulsion (possibly carbonated) to add to the ethanol suspension

    - A suitable receptacle to hold a good quantity of the raw material mixture (preferably glass)

    - Access to hygiene facilities (hygiene is paramount, although for some it may seem to be of declining importance as the experiment progresses)

    Expected Results:
I fully expect that we will see the following

    - No matter what the fluid mixture is on the input stream, the output stream will be very similar with minor variances.

    - All participants will benefit from a phenomena sometimes referred to as a 'rosy glow'

    - Not certain, but it is likely that we will see some extraction of the output chemical on this forum.

    Summary Objective:

    To convert alcohol into urine.

Now, who is with me???

I think you can buy the ethanol suspension already converted into the end product in some outlets.
          I believe it's called Stella.

I have next to me, 4kg unrefined sugar, 4 litres of blackcurrant juice, a packet of Turbo yeast.

Just how 'turbo' is that yeast though - or are you going to let the fermentation process take place in the 'extraction vessel'

Ah, so you could be ready to join in the repeat experiment next weekend. I think it is important that we do have regular repeat experiments, purely in the name of science of course?
