Sounds as if not enough moisture is getting through, where have you planted it?

Without looking at the location of the tree, soil types, soil moisture and nutrient level there's little diagnosis that can be done. More often than not a browning of the leaves means that there is a problem below soil level, indicating either low soil nutrients (your basic nitrogen, potassium and phospate) or an root/base infection.

Newly planted trees can suffer trauma if handled and planted incorrectly, even dropping a young sapling onto a hard surface can cause a tree to die. Did you have the plant delivered or did you pick it up yourself?

Matt if the discolouration is on the edges of the leaves, then it sounds to me like scorch. As has been said, for a better diagnosis, you need to post a pic.:thumb::)
