Chestnut tree

This is my chestnut tree as of today 15th July, you think it's run its course?

Chestnut trees live for a couple of hundred years or more so I think yours might have a problem, difficult to say why yours has yellow leaves that this time of the year.

 

A huge lower branch broke off it few years back in bad winds but other than that don't know what is happening with it.

Last month the leaves were green with early shots of chestnuts but now this!!

 

Not easy to see, but is it being constricted by other (bigger) trees?

 

Is there a big patch of bark missing around the trunk?

 

So you have deer in your area? The bark has been removed.
