    a very good afternoon all.

i've got a 3kg bag of pelleted chicken manure and i'm wondering how it will fare with my fatsias, bamboos, trachycarpus' palms and miscanthus?
i'm presuming its very high in nitrogen, so will be ok with mainly leafy plants, better say than the tomorite, phostrogen and miracle grow i normally use?

    ta muchly in advance.

    Al.

No experience of it with those particular plants @al n but I swear by the stuff for just about everything. I tend to use it in the early to mid season to build things up, then switch to tomato food for flowers - I believe you are correct too, that it is high in nitrogen

Chicken Manure Pellets NPK is 4:2.5:2.3 - the numbers aren't important (well, only in terms of how much you put!), its the ratio between them. So twice as much N as P or K, so as such as "Nitrogen rich" fertiliser.

Early in the year I would say that Fatsias, bamboos, trachycarpus' palms and miscanthus need exactly that. Don't feed them late in the season, so they have time to toughen-up any newly grown "soft" foliage

I've been using it this year too on all the stuff you mentioned al.
        Seems to be good stuff
I'd stop using it at the back end of August though

@al n I've read that heucheras don't like this much (just in case you have some) apparently too much nitrogen for them.

Hi val, I didn't know that! I'll avoid them then, thanks for the info.
