    Evening all,

I got a tub of chicken pellets recently but unsure where to actually use them!!! Should I just sprinkle some in beds that will house dahlias shortly as a general fertiliser with blood fish and bone? Should they be sprinkled on my allotment and if so where? Around fruit trees with the manure? In the area for the broad beans and climbing beans/brassicas/potatoes etc?

    Any guidance appreciated!

    Hi.

I put them into ground a few weeks before I am going to plant into and fork them in a few inches. They are particularly good for brassicas and I use them to feed mine all through the season, but I use them on all beds (veg and flower) but I then use an organic fertiliser thereafter.

I use the pellets all round the garden but I don't grow veg so can't say how good they are for that. I would use them instead of blood, fish and bone as they can be quite strong as a fertiliser. I did find that they stopped my Irises from blooming and they put on foliage growth instead so I've stopped using the pellets around those. On the whole most plants are happy with them as a feed and I use them on my flower beds just once a year, twice for roses.

I used them around now on all my flower beds . Just one feed a year with pellets . I don't use them now or blood fish and bonemeal , otherwise the flower beds would smell like a mixed grill to our dog , she would be in there having a good dig !:doggieshmooze:

I use pellets quite extensively in my beds.
Especially around my palms and bamboo.

          Sprinkle them around quite thickly.
And then give a good watering.
