Hi I'm new to this site.
I bought some chilean guava seeds and I planted the seeds indoors. They haven't germinated yet so i was wondering how long do they take to germinated?
Also any tips or advice would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Joe

Not something I have tried to grow.
How long has the seed been planted?
Some Chilean plants require cool conditions to germinate, it could be just a matter of time.

Hi they were soaked in warm water for 24 hours and they were then sown about 3 weeks ago or just less than 3 weeks.

Good evening Wardy Seeds are fairly slow to germinate, usually taking several weeks or a few months.

Wardy , one of the best advice about chilenian plants it`s the soil , they need acid soil to trive and the chilenian guava look like one of them ... I would try to germinate the seeds in perlite and then move them in ericaceous compost

the perlite can vary from £4 up to £13 for the same bag , all dipend where you get it from , why the perlite ? many seeds need hot and wet to germinate , and some time hot and wet means rot as well , I`ve notice that perlite manage to keep the right temperature and moisture .... remember that many ericaceas don`t like root disturbance , so germinate on perlate and move the seeds in a large pot ....water from the base

That is probably the most important tip of the lot for seed growing! :blue thumb:

sal73 do you mean place the seeds on top of the perlite or cover it with perlite?

Wardy this is what I do with acid lover seeds , plastic container , (don`t let your miss know about) , perlite , put the seeds (after 24 hours soaking) . watering and put in a clear bag ....
if the seeds are good they will germinate , if they are not you will know what happen
