    Hi All
Can anyone advise me on my Chllie palnts which look a little unhappy. I have grown them from seed and they have now been in a grow bag for about 5 weeks in my conservatory, they are now about 1ft tall but always look wilted ( the leaves look floppy rather than strong). I have been watering everyday and wondered if I am maybe overwatering them?

It could well be overwatering. My chilli plants are about 10 - 30 cm tall, they are still in 10" plant pots, and I only water them about once every 3 - 4 days in the green house.

I'd agree with chengjing on the overwatering Martin. Mine live in the greenhouse and I water them when they begin to look dry, usually every 2/3 days. They are taking up a whole shelf and already have chillis forming on them.

I have done my usual trick of potting on my chillies and peppers and forgetting to label them. Any tips on distinguishing the plants (before they fruit, obviously!)?

I've done the same thing with about 6 different types - and they all look identical at the moment.........

Cayennes tend to be a bit taller eventually, but I think it's pot luck I'm afraid...... :)

    cheers,
    Dave

    Thanks Guy's :thumb:
I reckon your both right on the over watering, I've left them for a few days and they seem to have perked up again, so I'll just water every few days when they look dry.:thumb: ( does the same apply to peppers?)

Martin, you could check that you have clear drainage holes in the bottom of the growbags.

As said by all, too heavy on the water but one other thing that helps is to pinch out the growing tip when they are about five or six inches tall. The result is a more compact, bushier plant and the warmest, lightest location you can give them, a bit more sunshine would help, good luck.

    Thanks T Digger
Would it still help if I pinch out the tip now ? ( they are about 12" tall)

Hello martandmichelle, if they look a bit tall and spindly and there are no flowers it may still help to pinch off the tip. I think that the worst that could happen is that cropping would be a bit delayed while the plant bushes up, a number of plants benefit from this practice, sweet peppers, aubergines etc. If you have several plants, try it on one or two of them to compare the results, there are several useful websites on the other thread, re chillies, finally the one thing which helps most is as I said some decent sunny days, roll on summer, good luck.
