I'm doing just the same with a chilli; someone gave me the dried pods, so I just sowed the seed last night. They should grow, its just pot luck what they will turn out like.

Did it myself last year - grew some from bought packet seed, some from a chilli we got from the greengrocer. Yes, you guessed it, the greengrocer chilli romped off and produced tons, the packet seed didn't do nearly as much! With chillies, there is never any harm in trying! After all, there's usually loads of seeds - just watch your eyes!!! :)

I wish I had taken that advice before I did mine - I managed to end up with a sore red eye about 1/2 an hour after I'd sown mine - it took me a while to realise what the burning sensation was.

I only know because I have done it myself - numerous times! [IMG]

Even after washing my hands a couple of times, I still manage to rub myself in the eye and feel that familiar burning!

if you put your fingers in olive or cooking oil before you cut the chillies it stops them getting in your fingers and hands............ so no more stinging eyes
