We still have my Shineybrids happily producing chillies in the propagator in the greenhouse. The propagator is set at 17C. There are other plants in there as well.

The propagator has a base of sand and gravel and due to not giving the base enough attention with regard to keeping it clean and tidy we missed some chillies falling off the plants. These ended up producing hundreds of seedlings in the sand and gravel. So we popped some into pots and we now have some of them six inches tall and already producing flowers. We shall pot them on as and when it is the right time and we are likely to have plants for sale with chillies on them by April, or earlier.

As @CanadianLori can attest, my hybrids are tough as old boots and withstand adverse conditions very well, are very hot and produce an enormous amount of chillies. I crossbred them many years ago and can no longer remember which chillies they are bred from.

@CanadianLori We shall let that happen each year from now on. It saves a lot of time drying the seeds and then sowing them. :blue thumb:

Mrs Shiney is lifting and potting on the ones that are doing the best. There was a small forest of them. The propagator they are in is the 5ft x 3ft one that you may remember in our greenhouse.

Aren't they going very leggy with the low light levels?

Not mine. As soon as they prove themselves/grow a bit of girth, the blocks go under grow lights and then when the roots reach the edges, I have all of the pots ready for them. I can raise and lower my grow lights to hang just above them. :)

When I emptied the pots last year, I cleaned them and refilled them right away so there are about 300 pots down in the cellar waiting for seedlings. This was my major investment last year. Coloured and sturdy 1020 and 1010 trays with domes to fit on each of them and matching square pots to go in them. ;) These trays are super sturdy and will last until I'm dead.

All of the chillies will fit under the lights down in the cellar which also has heat mats but not all my flower seed sowings would have room. Those flower seedlings that I don't try to start until February and March, get placed on any surface I can find near windows.

Not at the moment and it seems to be quite bright during the day. The sun was out most of the day.

                          Mine are
Shineybrids (@shiney 's hybrid which is truly prolific and robust)

                          Chocolate Reaper
                          Red Reaper
                          Dragons Breathe
                          Devil's Tongue
                          Ring of Fire
                          Scotch Bonnet
Jalapeno (from seeds collected from a huge store bought one)
                          Habanero
                          7 Pot Yellow

Moruga is one that might not germinate. It has always been a challenge to coax into life.
