Chillies

    I have one plant that is so loaded ..please could somebody tell me ....how to keep them, as there are so many of them...

    needle and thread through the stem and tie them up in the kitchen. They get hotter after they've dried out...

    Or they freeze well. They also get hotter in the freezer. Strange but true.

    Yeah I just chcuk them in the freezer whole, still got a few left from last years crop

    I found that too with the hot cherries that i froze from last Fall:thumb:

    Likewise, all mine went in the freezer last summer and still have loads.

    Jalapenos are great sliced on a homemade pizza.:thumb:

    I'll have to eat them up fast to make room for this year's crop.:D

    I do a variety of things with them.

    Freeze some, air dry some (lay them spread out on kitchen paper and put by a sunny window), pickle some in vinegar (I'm not keen on them but Mrs shiney is), pickle some in a small amount of vinegar and a lot of, hot, olive oil and store in the fridge (when they have cooled). We grow a lot of very hot chillies and the olive oil can also be in cooking but beware because the oil seems to get even hotter than the chillies.

    This was a quarter of our November harvesting the other year - we eat a lot of fresh chillies throughout the summer which is my favourite way of having chillies.

    This lot were being prepared for 'oil' pickling.

    wow..many thanks for the suggestions...I will definately try both ways..freeze and dry..I also fancy threading them together....thinking about it they would look good as a necklace LOL.:)

    Now I understand. I shoved a lot of peppers ,that were too late to ripen, into the freezer. I used one or two that I kept back. When I used the freezer ones they nearly blew my brains out:hehe:
