    Terracota or cast iron, your thoughts and experiences please before I buy one

    Cast Iron deffinately, our terracotta one has cracked even though it was covered all winter and I am absolutely heartbroken because it was a gift :oops:!

    Deffinitely iron. Terracotta will crack sooner or later. the iron one will rust but it adds to the 'character'... I love mine, sitting outside with wine and steaks sizzling is always a winner:)

    I agree, get an iron one.
    FIL has a terracotta one which cracked but has been repaired.
    Fabulous for evening family BBQs. They do throw out a lot of heat!

    Ours is a cast iron one, three seasons old and is fantastic. They do tend to rust if out in the elements, but you can always scrub it up and repaint using barbecue paint to keep it looking great.
