Chimneyrosegarden's mum's wheelchair garden

Hi all

However I have been tasked by my mum to create a wheelchair friendly garden that both my parents can enjoy. Its a big project as it is a big garden, and my mum is an experienced gardener but the garden is just not working for her anymore.
Plans should follow in the next few days and i will need this thread and your support to keep me going as this winter will be a busy one gardening wise with two gardens on the go.

 

Here is how it is at the moment. The left of the garden and the patio is in full shade

 

Lots of work for you, but I bet your Mum is going to be thrilled to bits when you have achieved a wheelchair friendly garden for her

Yes she is very excited. Dad uses the wheelchair / pusher. Mum needs to sit down to garden.

 

she is going for a urn shaped circular path with an obelisk entrance to a triangular play area of cammomile lawn. she has ideas of a mosaic butterfly mirror for the play area and I just cant wait to see her planting! My goodness she is talented! Will upload plan tomorrow. She has decided on a blue theme and has taken this as inspiration for her planting. ( obviously we will be omitting the posionus plants)

The shopping list seems very expensive to me.

Also, its not for full shade. Verbena for example is better suited to sunny spots.

 

thanks clueless she is only taking it as an inspiration and will most prob grow her plants from seed where possible and i think she is putting the play area on the left in the shade
