Is in fine bloom this year
It is very slow growing .. maybe only an inch or so every year. I bought it at a fair size and have had it now for maybe 10 years [IMG]

    Lovely!
Just can't grow them on my limey soil so just have to scratch your eyes out and think how lovely your pics are.

Your witch hazel looks beautiful! Mine (about the same size as yours) has only one or two blooms out at present.

It is a beautiful plant - I really LOVE the unusual scent, and the acid - bright dazzle of the flowers - so cheering at this time of year! It makes a great backdrop in my border during the spring and summer, with it's fresh greenery, then becomes quite spectacular in the autumn - each leaf a little rainbow of colour!

I was so impressed, I 'bullied' my parents into buying one for their garden - they haven't regretted my persuation!

We have a yellow one, an orange one, a red one and this one which is the darkest of them. Cannot remember the names though!

Mine is a pallida too, my nextdoor neighbours have a large Diane - it is stunning - though it took me a few years to realise that it was full of beautiful flowers, not brown leaves (it's the far side of their garden!).

A close up of the pallida flower:
