Time is simply going to whizz by and I'll run out of it if I don't get a wiggle on.
So, I thought a thread might be a good way of sharing what we are doing in preparation for big day.

Today's task is to wrap the gifts I have already bought, so it doesn't end up as a mad panic two days before :heehee:

I'm going through my freezer cook book to see what I can get ahead with. The oven will be on for a family roast tomorrow and I'd like to utilise the space/energy to cook something to put away in the freezer for the holidays.

I also need to dig out some craft supplies and make a start on some Christmas cards.

The tree and decorations will be going up next Wednesday (as is tradition in our household).

What stage is everyone else at? What have you prepared so far?

Christmas bah Humbug ,I have better ways of using my time:whistle:

On second thoughts I have purchased all the gifts for everyone, have ordered all the food ie turkey, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, and a hedgehog(only joking),should be about 18 for Christmas lunch and anyone else who drops in,Mrs Woo has her operation on the 12th of December, then it will be baking all the sausage rolls and mince pies, apple pies, but not for me as I am on a special diet, but I just might have to taste some to see if they are all OK:heehee: I find that as you get older Christmas and Time become even more important:smile:

Sorry @HarryS but have to ask is the new creation a dog or polar bear?:)
I'm afraid I am with @shiney. After many (far too many) years of doing the whole works I am now doing absolutely zero for Christmas other than enjoying the company of my closest family and eating nothing remotely Christmasy, as loath virtually all festive fare apart from Brazil and Walnuts. I have informed anybody who just might send me a card to please not bother as I am sending none and I will enjoy watching others running round like headless chickens displaying b all Christmas spirit fighting over parking spaces in the supermarket car parks and the like.
I count myself very fortunate as my life for the most part is a very happy 1 and I don't feel the need to partake in the excesses others do which would appear to give them pleasure. I give presents to my loved ones at all sorts of times and don't need a special day to do it. As for a drop of booze well just enjoying a glass of wine as I type:Wino:.
I'm very happy for others to enjoy Christmas however, just count me out :)

            I agree!
What a blow! I was sending you tickets for a World Cruise in your Christmas card  Guess I'll have to give them to the charity raffle now then :heehee:

            I enjoy Christmas :)

I put the tree up last weekend (which takes about 2 mins) as it is a two-dimensional one and stays "up" all year round, albeit behind a cupboard! There are now a fair few twinkly lights around as well.

I've planned most presents, they will be arriving and wrapped over the next couple of weeks. That's all for now.

Advent lights went in the windows on Thursday, the tree was decorated today, and followed by the drinking of "glögg" :Wino:and eating of "stollen". Next job on the Christmas agenda will be the baking of a Bible Cake.

What is a Bible Cake? The equivalent of our Christmas Cake e.g. fruit?

No, its a cake made from passages in the bible. I can post the almost 100 year old recipe if anyone promises to make it!
