Although my continuing growing Christmas Flowering Cactus has flowered the once or twice, even though only produced the one flower. Can anyone tell me why the Cactus hasn't flowered at all this year?

Don't turn them once they have set buds, or the buds will fall off. I only turn mine once they have finished flowering and all 3 of them have been going for years and bloom up a storm.

Also, as dendy said, don't overwater, I keep mine more on the dry side.

You could put it outside in a shady spot for the summer, water it if nesessary, but most of the time it will be OK, then bring it back in in October.
It should bud up then and probably flower before Christmas.

Sammyveggiesbmth, it should root easily, they usually do, but keep only just damp, never wet.

We always do as Pete says and put ours outside in the summer months, after the frosts have gone.We are not fussy where we put them in sun or shade. We water them along with all the other plants all through the summer months, and then in the autumn we bring them back inside either in the house or greenhouse. When we see the tiny flower buds forming we quickly move them to where we want them to flower, then leave them alone apart from watering them when they get dry.

They look a picture when the flowers eventually open. Our xmas cactus is on it's 3rd flowering since xmas although this time it only bears one flower. Our Easter cactus are just starting to bud in the greenhouse.

One other point to remember and that is not to keep moving them when they are getting large flower buds or else they will drop off. [IMG]

Somehow I missed this ... that is stunning, my dearest. It makes my two which live outside look very sad indeed. I'm more than jealous! [IMG]
