Something I DREAD every year. I HATE going into the shops and trying to make my way around for the bits I need to last me until things get back to normal. People are STUPID, RUDE, PUSHY,GREEDY, and ANNOYING. I meant to have it delivered this year but left it too late. So.......... I'm going to get up at STUPID thirty and go at about 6am. Hopefully I will beat the worst of the morons that way.......... Ho Ho No!!

I find that the best time to avoid morons is around 8AM. Much earlier and you will get the ones that have not yet been to bed, out buying munchies or attempting to acquire more beer. Much later and you'll get the usual rush. About 8AM is the narrow window in between when everyone that hasn't been to be yet is just setting off there, and everyone that has been to bed yet is still in there.

It's something I dread full stop at any time of the year.
Went in tesco today to get some batteries for the little one toys. My god it was like the shops would not reopen for another year. Couples walking round with one trolley each and piled to the roof.
How did people go on when there were no supermarkets? :dunno:

I was in Tecso at midnight last night - hardly a soul about except for an army of shelf-fillers. Sadly, not a lot of fancy cheese, smoked salmon and posh veg about either, though they did fetch me some from the "cage", whatever that is. One of the shelf-fillers said it had been packed at 4.30 that morning - sorry Catztail, hope I'm not putting you off. I bet the majority have done their shopping today or yesterday.

If all else fails, try this place, wonder if they'll open on Xmas day:

I love this shop. You've got one in Derby.

The best one I saw was about this time last year in Tescos. It was full of zombies. I wanted a few tinnies so I braved the alcohol isle. I wanted some quality cider. There was loads left. However there was a void where the cheap cider would usually be. Just empty shelf. There was a chav couple just literally (and I'm not even exaggerating), walking round and round very fast in a tight circle, looking at the empty shelf as they passed on each lap of their tight circle as though by some miracle the shelf would miraculously restock itself. In the same isle I saw one rather large track suit wearing 'lady' loudly order her tracksuit clad neandertal boyfriend/husband to grab something <mighty> quick before it all goes, and he literally lunged at the target items as though he was on supermarket sweep.

Mrs. Trunky prefers to do her shopping without me. On the odd occasion when I have accompanied her in performing this task, I have been informed that I am rude and embarrassing!

Hubby doesn't go with me. He's just a nuisance. I went one year at about 5:30 or 6 am and it wasn't too bad.

I can't believe the queues of cars near the supermarkets at the moment. My shopping has been delivered and I am now keeping a safe distance from any retail outlet until after new year

I went to the giant Sainsburys in town at noon today. Car park was jammed but lucky enough to drive straight into a spot as someone was pulling out.

I did all my Christmas/Boxing Day food shopping in ten minutes (leg of lamb, large chicken, some mince and some veggies). :dbgrtmb: Everyone else looked as though they were doing their shopping for the next three months! There were very long queues at the checkouts but I got through in two minutes. I was the only one with a basket so I could go through the self-checkout.:dancy: All the other self-checkouts were empty!!!
