My great-ganddaughter, just 5, loves music so I thought of buying her
a big pink personal cassette player from Early Learning Centre but it is
in the centre of Norwich and parking is difficult especially at this time of year.
I decided to see if I could order by telephone as that would be easier than
    visiting the shop.

"Certainly" was the reply when I rang "we have them in stock and we will post it to you
but we do not take payment over the phone you will have to call in to pay for it" !!!

I was, as they say, gobsmacked

Anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

I only wish it was still fun to walk round the shops as I love shopping but now 75
and with arthritis/knee and back problems I cannot walk too far at a time.

Trying not to moan about it as I have done my share of shopping over the years -
I am just trying to find easier ways to do things to buy for my GREAT-grandchildren.
Hooray for computers and internet shopping :thumb:

Jjordie, have you tried Argos? It is by far the best of the lot for delivery and price. It may not have the exact same one, but it will have simialr, if not better. How old is she? If you don`t mind me asking. I ask because I have two daughters, aged 12 and 6-I can ask them what is the now item if you`d like.

I whole heartedly agree lolli, all my prezzies up to now have been reserved on line at Argos. they send your reserved item code to your mobile phone, you go in that day or the day after pay for it and pick it up. No trying to get a glimpse of a catalogue fighting through all the crowds, getting stressed out.:el-f: Its great because Ive managed to keep my sanity up to now, this year.:yho: 02

Thanks for suggestions. I did try Argos but they didn't have what I wanted.

The shop concerned was the Norwich branch so I just ordered it from their
online shop and it was delivered yesterday - no problem with paying on line.
It was £1 cheaper and pp was less than £3 so not bad. I just thought it was
so ridiculous to try to ring in an order so I didn't have to go there and they would
only accept payment if I took it in - so no point really was there.

Lucky you having a Hannah Montana Nick as it's the 'in' thing this year :hehe:
    so I'm told.
