I'm not an expert gardener - is my Christmas tree dead?
It's in a pot which I was assured would keep it alive between the festive seasons.

E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig!
'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

Yes @Rob W your Xmas tree is dead and I would say that either the roots had been damaged or killed before it was put into the pot or that it hasn’t been watered enough especially in the drought conditions of the past few months.

Welcome to GC from me as well:smile:

          Welcome to the forum!

Don't feel bad about not knowing your tree is DOA. I've just finally emptied some pots that had King Protea seeds in them. Been checking them every day for three months and finally surrendered to the awful truth that I had only been aging the soil all this time

And in spite of it being dead, it has a good shape and colour. If you have teenagers around, spray it with hairspray to keep the needles on, add glitter and some fairy lights and call it Rose Gold Vegan Everlasting Christmastree [IMG].

This Christmas, if you have IKEA nearby, try one of theirs. If the tree looks like a non-starter after the holidays, you can return it for a voucher. :)

Welcome, and please don't mind the banter- we are all fairly nice people around here and do not want to offend anyone. A nice giggle is always welcome though. :snorky:

Thank you all for the input, and for confirming my worst suspicions.
It shall laid to rest alongside everything else I've ever tried to grow.

Rob.....it's a learning process so dont be hard on yourself. My own mistakes would be embarrassing to relate.:)
However, persevere. Successes will delight you and spur you on :)

If at first you don`t succeed - keep on trying Rob. You will be able to ask some knowledgeable (if slightly nutty) people here along the way.
We are really pleased you have joined the forum and there will always be someone here to ask :dbgrtmb: We all have to start somewhere - and none of us can profess to know it all - believe me :)
