    Hi everyone

    we needed rain …

my friend when planting small seeds ie like lobelia begonias ets ..

Once planted sprinkles cinnamon over the surface of the soil , only a very small amount.
She told me it stops them damping off.

    any one else doing this

    Spruce

Just found my jar of cinnamon, it says best before aug 13.
Do you think its still alright to use?

Can't imagine it would do any harm, just might have lost some of its effectiveness. Does it still smell of cinnamon?

It still smells and I dipped a finger in and it still tastes, but I dont know how strong fresh stuff would taste or smell.

If it has been sealed, I am sure it is okay. Most things here are after their sell by date!
              :rolleyespink:

It is particularly good for "sealing wounds". "rooting" and "transplanting" with all my "exotics"

It shouldn't be a problem. I'm assuming it is the powder variety but it would only have lost some of its smell and flavour. I can't think of a better use for something you obviously have no intention of using it as an edible condiment.

Well I found it right at the back of a cupboard so it's possible.
But I don't think they put best before dates on things back then.

It's quite amazing really if you think about it, we have all these modern ways of storing things and they put dates on them, but years ago stuff just lasted forever.
