cistus and forsythia

Can someone advise me:
1. whether it is possible to divide a cistus bush and if so how;
2. when to prune a forsythia bush.

 

1. - I'd take cuttings of the cistus -

2. - re the forsythia, prune after it flowers, as it will flower next spring on the growth it makes this year.
