Is it possible to divide a cistus (rock rose) bush which is spreading sideways. I would like to plant a part of it elsewhere. Other websites say propagating is by softwood cutting and seed. I don't want to end up killing it if I attempt to divide it.

Hi floris. The rock rose is a shrub so cannot be divided like perennials. Cuttings are fairly easy though, take them in summer from young shoots and root into well drained compost with sharp sand added. Cut any flower buds off if any.
