    135 gr. castor sugar
    100 gr. plain flour
    5 eggs.
    60 cl. milk
    vanilla pod OR
vanilla sugar ( 1 sachet) OR few drops of vanila essence
    1 table spoonful of Rum
    250 grams of prunes
    1 tea bag

Make a bowl of tea - strong .... soak prunes for 20 mins ...

Make well in flour, put in all sugar ... add eggs, whisking all the time....add milk and rum slowly.

Butter and flour a flan dish .....put liquid mix in dish, strain prunes ..add to mixture evenly...

Put in pre heated oven (No. 7) for 12 mins ... lower to No. 5 for 30 mins.

    Serve either warm or cold......

Cherries soaked in Kirsch can be used as an alternative ....add more Kirsch instead of rum.

I first came across clafoutis in Joanne Harris' book Blackberry Wine- loads of excellent recipes there.

Rosa ...It's rather nice warm with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream melting over it .... or I sometimes serve it with creme fraiche .... it's really good enough on it's own, it depends how 'naughty' you want to be ! :D  M-L

Palustris, it is still good without the alcohol. You could use soya milk, is there an egg equivalent? It's so nice I hate to think of you going without! :(
