Hi all, I've recently put in some new gate posts with the result that I now have several tonnes of a mixture of clay and sand. Rather than throw it away, I was wondering if I mixed it with loamy soil and created a new bed, would it be any use for growing and, if so, what would be good to grow in it.

Clay and sand together can be inclined to become very compacted
You would need to mix in lots and lots of lighter material, farmyard manure, compost etc to get the right balance
If the resulting mix is too heavy it will be difficult for the roots of anything to develop easily
