    Hi All,

2 years ago I laid a roll out turf lawn. The turf that came with it was clay based and very heavy as a result I am having waterlogging issues, the water is not pooling but just squelches (I never had these issues before with my old lawn).

I am currently using a hollow tine aerator to help improve drainage. Am I better off topdressing once the aerating is complete with compost, topsoil or manure (from B and Q). Thanks in advance

I'd be inclined to top dress with sharp sand.
    But I'm no lawn expert.

When the turf was laid was there a layer of sub soil removed and then replaced with top soil and is this the clay structure you mentioned?
Normally if there’s a pooling or feeling of water logging it’s the soil under the turf that’s the issue and while you could hollow tine and add a soil sand mix to aid drainage if the sub soil is clay and at a depth greater than the tine that will not fully cure the issue.
The only way to cure it if the soil below is clay and was not prepared correctly is to start over again if the grass plant is showing signs of problems.
