I recently bought a small teapot for making two cups of tea (I don't use teabags, even the one-cup bags are too strong for me)
but the inside of the spout is dirty and I can't get it clean, so I am unable to use the teapot.
I've bought a set of thin bottle brushes but because the spout has a bend in it they won't work.
Does anyone think I could put bleach in it ?
or is there something else that would work ?

I use a piece of bendy wire and just keep working it in from each end of the spout.
I dont really know about cleaning it as such as I just dig out the build up that stops it pouring well.

I would soak the whole pot in a bicarb solution ... or a false teeth tab. I hasten to add I have the latter for such things as cleaning toilets!

My mum used to soak the pot with laundry powder. Personally I just leave it :noidea:

My old Mum used to say you should never clean out a tea pot, the older it gets the better the cup of tea it makes.
It gets sterilised with boiling water every time you use it, the bleach will do you more harm than the staining.

A leak solution of bleach will sort it out, I use this to clean my mugs and I'm still here:heehee:

Very diluted bleach , I always use this. Give it a good swirl around the pot then leave for just a couple of minutes before rinsing and washing out with washing up liquid then I fill with a kettle of boiling water and leave it to stand.

                Thanks for all suggestions.
The teapot is new and has never been used, so I don't know what the black colouring down the spout is. However I shall try one or two things and see what happens

It's a small pot, for two cups.

It looks as if the spout is chipped in the photo but it isn't, that's just the light shining on it.

The colour is like black gunge. I will try some of the above-mentioned suggestions.

My father used to infuriate my mother by cleaning the teapot with a hot solution of washing soda.
Even after a really good rinse the tea was pretty bad for the first week or so.

Would you be able to swab a little bit of the spout with a bleach soaked cutip to test it?
And can you write the seller too?

From the pic it almost looks like it's intentional glazing but you'll obviously have a better view.

It looks to me to be more ornamental rather than practical.

I use a stainless steel one.
