Clematis care.

    New house and there is a clematis growing up a trellis with a label which I think says 'Cholmondeley' It is deciduous (or dead although I think I can see some fresh growth).
    What should I be doing to it please? Leave it alone, cut it down to about ground level or what?

    Thanks for that link, I have been wondering when I could prune my Nelly Moser which is outgrowing it's space.
