We have a large purple flower clematis which has been absolutley lovley and in full flower for the last couple of months but it now appears to be dying!!! :(

The leaves have started to turn black, it starts around the edges, and most of the stems seem to be 'crisp' like, ie dead. Consequently all the petals are now falling.

Is this a common condition for clematis to suffer from and something we can recover it from or do you think it has gone to the big flower in the sky?

    Many Thanks,

    Keith.
