    Hi all,
I'm new to this site and also to gardening. I've only been taking a proper interest in my garden for the last couple of years so I'm hoping to learn lots from this forum and all of you!
I planted a clematis Passiflora Damsels Delight on a trellis last year. It gets sun from early morning to late afternoon. It has grown really well and this summer I was thrilled to see multiple buds. However, a few of them have 'almost' opened but then fallen off before doing so. I have checked inside; there are no bugs at all.
I've used generic feed a couple of times and have just started using tomato feed weekly. Will this help do you think?
    Any other advice?

    Hi Armandii,
We've had a mixture of sun and rain. Today is just drizzle. Roots are shaded with pebbles and shade from a salvia for most of the time it's in full sun too. Found another one on the floor this morning, again nothing creepy inside. :dunno:

Perhaps you could add your location to your profile as that may provide a clue as to the issues with your clematis. Just your general location would do e.g. County nothing too revealing :heehee:

@"M" Yes good idea! I'm in Cheshire and have updated my profile after figuring that out too. Do excuse a totally random use of :doggieshmooze: as I've never seen this one before. Love it!

Right, I've figured out if I do this via my iPhone, it's far easier to upload pics direct. So here's the problem Clematis in all it's non-glory,

Okay, I think I'm going to put this down to the damp, moist, weather that we, [yes, I live in West Cheshire:love30::heehee:], have been having. I have a collection of just under 200 Clematis and, while none of them have suffered from flowers not opening, some of my roses have, also my Honeysuckle have all flowered but dropped their flowers in an unusually short time and I know other members plants have suffered from the same problem.. I garden on sandy [up to 350 feet, or more, in depth but have improved my soil over thirty or so years so water quickly drains through even after prolong heavy rain.

I don't think you will find it is an Aphid or other problem.:dunno: It sounds to me that you have taken all the step to make the Clematis happy where it is with the roots in shade and covered with pebbles so the roots should have been cool and moist, ideal for Clematis. I think I would have been more concerned if your Clematis leaves were drooping or turning brown/yellow, but this problem is, I'm sure, down to the humid, warm, weather:coffee::dunno::snorky:

            @ARMANDII
200 Clematis - wow! I'm relieved that it's just our recent rainfall and humidity. I should be grateful it seems healthy and has given me some nice blooms :)

Thank you @martin-f I was pleased with the growth and when there were so many buds I got carried away I think! Still a novelty for me when plants survive :dbgrtmb:

Yes a Passion flower does not need roots shaded or over feeding just give it a good mulch in Autumn looks well , can drop buds by over feeding ,never feed mine and flowers well :)

Should I never feed it at all then? Not even with an all purpose food or tomato food?

I put a few in 3 years ago, they have been very slow growers up until this year, the one below has spread from the fence nearly to the mirror window in a few months, i never feed mine,

They might be classed as a clematis :dunno:take no notice of me .

@martin-f Haha, no I don't think they are classed as clematis. Its probably because I was writing down the names of my new clematis at the same time as figuring out how to upload pics on here!

Yours looks lovely, hoping mine continues so that it covers more of the fence :) I'll stop feeding my *Passion flower* then :heehee:
