It is a form of C. cirrhosa. It is not fully hardy, but ours has survived for the last 8 years outside in a sheltered spot. They do not produce that many flowers, except in a cool conservatory. They flower in winter by the way.

    Thanks Palustris

The lady that gave it to me has it growing through a small tree, she says it took a long time to get going but hers is obviously surviving okay outside.

I bought one for my mum, and one for me two or three winters ago. Her birthday is on Christmas Eve, and it claims to flower on Christmas day (thus, I suspect the name!) so I thought it would be a special pressie! It hasn't let her down! The first year, it had one or two flowers (as it did in the pot when i bought it), they are white, and of the bell shaped pendulous kind. The second year, it settled in, without blooming, but this year, it had loads of flowers! It was super! I planted it under a small cherry, which it climbs. It does look quite delicate - but it is in the front garden of a windy site, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, so i would conclude that it is pretty hardy!

Mine on the otherhand flowered the first and second years, but not this year. The evergreen foliage is still there to show me it's hanging on - it is in a more sheltered, sunny spot, so who knows!
