Hi I'm new to the forum. I have a Clematis 'The President' which has been in my garden for around 12 months. Last year it settled in & grew well, to around 3ft. This year it flowered, but has not put any new growth on. I've mulched it well & watered when needed & given it a small amount of fertilizer. Around 1ft away I also have a honeysuckle that's grown very well, although the heat & lack of rain a few weeks back did dry it out a little. I'm wondering if the honeysuckle is having a negative affect on the clematis. Apart from the lack of growth the Clematis looks ok, maybe a little wind burn, but nothing major.

    Any suggesttions

    Welcome to the forum Halo.
Sometimes new plants just take a little while to settle in.
Clematis want their roots in cool, damp shade and their heads in the sun.
If that's what you're doing then they will get on fine.
Wait until next year and those clematis should take off.
I don't think the honeysuckle has anything to do with the problem.
I think you are just talking time.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the roots are well shaded & the rest gets full sun.

So I should be fine, thanks again.
