Hi, should I deadhead my clematis perle d'azure or leave well alone
I do like the fluffy seedheads but will deadheading promote more flowers. Thanks..

    Hello ... and welcome.

I don't think deadheading clematis leads to new flowers, but I haven't grown Perle d'Azure, so it might be an exception.

Someone more knowledgeable will hopefully stroll along, so don't take my word for it. :)

Thankyou, I have read that some early clematis will reflower later in the year , Pearl d'azure is group 3 and has been flowering for a couple of weeks so maybe won't reflower as you say. The seedheads are beautiful though so I will enjoy them.

I do try to get round and dead-head the large-flowered hybrid Clematis on the principle that once things cool down a bit in October I often get a second flush of flowers. Perle d'Azur though is enormous! It would be a hedge-trimmer job.....
It would perhaps be interesting to do half and see whether that side does re-flower?

When I had Perle d'Azure I never dead headed it.
