    Hi there, I am posting on behalf of my mum who's having some odd problems with her Clematis. Her question is;

    "Why are some of the shoots on my clematis elongated, narrow and have mishapen buds?"

    If anyone could shed some light it'd would be muchly apprecated.

    Dale.

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner Dale. It would be helpful if you could post a picture for us please to identify what the problem is. :)

    Hi Dale, is it showing any other signs apart from what you described. Leaves wilting??, other damage to the leaves?:scratch: Any signs of aphids?:scratch: And as Sheal says any chance of a pic of the leaves.?:snork:

    I was thinking apids too, but then I thought it might be too early for them. No sign of aphids here yet, but of course different locations get them at different times.

    I'm not sure about the aphids but we have had some warmish weather and I've had two infestations of Greenfly in the Greenhouse which I dealt with quickly so it shows they're around. The eggs will stay dormant until they get warm and then...... It doesn't appear to be Clematis Wilt so it is possibly Aphids.:dunno:

    Hey ya, what I'll do is, print out you're replies and take them to her and give her my digital camera on Monday to take a picture and get her to drop it off at work. Then post a picture once I get the camera! Thanks for all the replies!
