clematis

    Hi all,I planted 3 clematis to grow over a pergola,they were doing great all of a sudden they are dying. [​IMG] They look as if they had never been watered but not the case. :confused: Any advice as how to save them please.

    Are they dying from the top downwards or from the bottom up?
    If from the bottom upwardfs ten suspect damage to the shoots near the base, snails and slugs love to graze on these.
    If from the top down then suspect Clematis Wilt.
    If you planted them deeply as recommended they should regrow from below ground. Soak with a systemic fungicide.
    It could just be that they are going in to early autumn. A lot of our stuff is, not only because of lack of water at the roots, but because of the dryness of the atmosphere.

    Thanks Palustris, they did start dying from the base up.I wondered if the foxes had damaged the roots when they disturbed the bed.I did plant them deep but will get systemic fungicide can you recommend a trade name.
