Hello hello! I have 3 pence panels along my garden and I really want to grow some climbers up them for a bit of interest. I'm thinking that it might be a good plan to grow 2 plants up the one panel for summer and winter interest so am thinking

Back panel (most sunlight!) - wine berry and possibly a bluebell creeper?
Middle panel (light from morning until about 4pm) - redcurrant and winter jasmine
Front panel (light from morning until about 2/3pm) - jasmine and pasion flower? (This would be summer only though!)

I have a blackberry already in a pot that grows up a pyramid which is brill, and the wineberry did that last year but has such a good lovely crop, I'd like to get more from it and think after a bit of research it will be super happy with real ground! I grow strawberries, blueberries and tomatoes too, but would like a bit of pretty flowering scent as well as more fruity things...

what do you chaps think? Anything I've missed which makes this a bad idea? or any better suggestions???!

It might be worth growing Ceanothus which will tend to hide the fence panels. 3 flat faced varieties should do the trick.

I would advise you get the trellis or wires the climbers will be be tied to well secured before starting anything!

Winter Flowering jasmine isn't like other jasmines in that it needs assistance to climb.

Climbing Hydrangea is a good one for fences as well. Actually, you're lucky having that much sun on them-it gives you a much wider choice of plants.

oh yes, I've put wires on them all and I'm planning to tie in the winter flowering jasmine but was just wondering what people thought of the plant choices and if they had any better recommendations :-) I'm pretty keen on the bluebell creeper because its such pretty little flowers and also berries through autumn, there are only about 3 months where there is no decoration! And I want a couple of fruits, but I'm going for pretty flowers and nice scents so wondered whether people would say oh no, go for x, its beautiful... or 2 climbers? Are you mad? Or something else! ;-)
