    Hi everyone,

I'm going to be starting a lot of climbers off from seeds this year and as it's coming up to February I was wondering if it's time to start sowing.

    They are.......

    Tropaeolum Peregrinum
    Lophospermum Purpusii
    Rhodochiton Atrosanguineum
    Thunbergia Alatum
    Convuluvulus/Ipomea
    Sweet Peas
    Lathyrus Tingitanus

    Thanks everyone :)

I grew Tropaeolum Peregrinum last year and they were a success! I sowed them in late March outdoors in small pots and left them in a sunny spot, watering them when needed. As I was growing in containers only, they went into large pots and still romped away with loads of flowers which the bees liked too.

I also grew Thunbergia Alatum which I again sowed in March. I started them off indoors. They eventually went into a large pot on the south facing border and produced masses of flowers.

I didn't have much success with Convuluvulus/Ipomea. This garden here is quite windy and they needed a more sheltered spot than I gave them. I'm moving soon so I'll try them again.

Good luck with yours....you have a nice selection of climbers there. Let us know how you get on. :dbgrtmb:

Tropaeolum Peregrinum , canary creeper can be sown in February very good climber when it gets going . Will even self seed .
        Thunbergia I sow in March.
Sweet peas I would sow around now . I have used the Sarah Raven method , sowing three in a pot and discarding one when they get going, so you have a double plant . For a plant pot I use the plastic pint beakers from Asda etc. Just put a couple of holes in the bottom and use MCP , the pint beakers are tall and give a good root run . I germinate indoors and they then go into the shed. Growing Charlies Angel again this year super performer :dbgrtmb:

I would start the Rhodochiton off sooner rather than later.
